Community Health Systems in the Red!

In an already burgeoning health care crisis, our community health system and business community cannot continue under the rapidly escalating costs of treatment for underinsured and uninsured citizens. The Oklahoma State Board of Health has documented for nine consecutive years that our health status is worse than the nation at large. Incidentally, Oklahoma is the only state where death rates became worse through the 1990s and into this century. Also identified were fundamental problems that account for this deplorable health status. They include:

• 14.7 percent of the Oklahoma population in poverty compared to the nation.

• 17.8 percent of our citizens without health insurance compared to the nation.  

• A low priority for clinical prevention and public health, ranking 45^th in the nation for public health expenditures and the lowest percentage of total dollars spent on health care.

Unless we work together to reverse the unacceptable healthcare crisis, our health care system will be strained to the breaking point as the population ages.

How Can You Help?

The Friends of Community Health Centers, Inc. has recognized the crisis on the horizon, and is launching a new fundraising campaign that will directly address the financial strain facing our health center. We are calling all business and organizations to answer the charge and Invest in Prevention. Contributions to Community Health Centers, Inc. have the potential of saving billions of health care expenditure dollars. Businesses are beginning to understand the cost benefits of investing in health centers that in turn serve the people who make up the workforce. Your contribution will not only save lives in Oklahoma, but will also reduce a tremendous financial burden on our community health care system.

Presented before you IS a sure thing.  Assuring that a health system is well funded and has a suitable, well-trained workforce is critical. By making small investments into Community Health Centers, Inc. development and expand our capacity to provide preventive health services to our citizens, millions of dollars could be saved by avoiding costly interventions for preventable diseases and injuries. General Fund

Community Health Centers, Inc. faces the same financial pressures that other health care providers are experiencing: the endless paperwork needed for reimbursement; escalating costs and dwindling funds; the constant need to upgrade facilities and technology; and the need to retain quality staff so that we remain a viable, competitive health care choice.

We are constantly pushed to do more, with less.  CHCI is the only place thousands of people can turn to for their health care.  We need your help to strengthen the foundations of community health care.  Contributions to the General Fund, assist with these needs.

Children's Pharmacy Fund 

The children's pharmacy fund was developed to assist our smallest patients in need. We continuously raise money to assist our parents with purchasing needed medications for their children.
